What is a dry loop?

A “dry loop” is a telephone line without an active telephone service, so calls cannot be made or received. A dry loop line is required to provide DSL Internet service if you do not have a home telephone line. It is perfect for cell phone users who don’t want a landline phone or if you use VoIP phone service.
