What is Alert Ready?
Alert Ready is a service that delivers emergency alert messages about critical or potentially life-saving situations to Canadians via Television, Radio and now Wireless.
Who will receive alerts?
Starting April 6, 2018, you will start receiving alerts if you meet the following three conditions:
- You have an LTE-device like a smartphone
- Your wireless device is Wireless public alerting (WPA) compatible
- You’re connected to an LTE cellular network at the time the emergency alert is issued.
What devices are compatible?
The following devices are compatible with Alert Ready if the device software is up to date:
- Alcatel – A50, Go Flip
- Apple – iPhone 5s, 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, Apple Watch Series 3 (38mm), Apple Watch Series 3 (42mm)
- Blackberry – Motion
- Huawei – P10 Light, P10
- LG – V30, Q6
- Samsung – Note 8, A8, GS8, GS8+, GS9, GS9+, J3 Prime, GS7, GS7 Edge
- Sony – Xperia XZ1
What do emergency alerts sound like?
The alert will be sent to your cell phone via a distinct sound and vibration.
Can I opt out of these alerts?
No, you can’t opt out of these alerts.
